How it works

Tennessee schools are committed to providing every student with an effective teacher, every year they are in school. We are working with teachers and principals to ensure they have the information, feedback and support they need to ensure that excellent instruction is happening in every classroom.  In our schools, we are using the TAP System to provide a proven, robust and comprehensive teacher support system to drive more effective instruction and increased student learning.  We are proud to have secured a federal Teacher Incentive Fund grant to implement TAP, and look forward to applying the lessons learned in TAP schools to our work across the districts.

Redefining
  • Excellence

    in Tennessee

The TAP system is just the beginning. Working together, we are creating meaningful, comprehensive reforms for teachers and our students. The results speak for themselves. TAP schools nationwide consistently outperform similar schools in student academic growth.

  • Impact

    in Tennessee

Tennessee's teachers are making a huge difference. Working to build each teacher’s skills and improve together as a team, teachers are helping students to outperform expectations.

  • Success

    in Tennessee

Evaluations are led by peers at each school, focused on the unique needs of each teacher and his or her students, and expertise is built within the school faculty itself rather than relying on outside experts. This grass-roots approach encourages collaboration between our teachers.

  • Progress

    in Tennessee

In Tennessee TAP schools, our career, mentor and master teachers all work together to make meaningful improvements based on specific teacher and student needs. Weekly cluster group meetings enable teachers to track student progress, adjust instruction, and redefine goals as a team.
